Leopard and the Little Rebel

So happy you’ve joined me again for the Deep Track Designs podcast. This year I’m turning up the volume with a spectacular line-up of guests. There will be just a handful, but I promise they’ll be so super-rich and decadent, a few will do you.

As always, Genre Blog is where you can get the real deal, real feel version of each and every track. If you love interior design and music as much as I do, you’ll appreciate listening and SEEING EVERYTHING in one super convenient location, my Genre Blog.

My criteria for selecting guests is pure and simple: they must love music, must have something mind-blowing to add to their interior design conversation, AND they absolutely must have a sense of humor.

What grabbed my attention about my first guest is this: she has two major (and I mean MAJOR) obsessions – leopard print and David Bowie!

As I got to know her more, I thought, dang girl, you’re coming with me!

You may just ask yourself, who else can zigzag back and forth between conversations about the most famous interior designer of all time and Bowie… and with such remarkable grace?

Literally with Grace…my awesome guest, who I asked when she first thought herself to be a little rebel and matter-of-factly responds, “the womb!” One after another, Grace drops entertaining bombs with her surprising answers to my questions.

Although Grace considers herself a rebel of sorts, don’t be fooled.

She is not only a talented artist, she's also an extremely well-spoken lady who grew up in a home where music and art became staples in the pantry of her everyday life. She clearly loves and respects her grandparents who raised her.

Of course, I manage to weave in a few historical tasty tidbits about leopard print, as well as how to incorporate the pattern into your design. Both Grace and I agree that we tend to gravitate most toward a leopard print design which highlights neon colors- pink, orange, or green…it truly makes no difference to either one of us!

How does leopard and neon orange strike you?

TAKE THE QUIZ

This bedroom is packed full of sooooo many of my favorite wild, botanical pieces and texture-rich go-2s like the pendants and armoire. The mushroom night stand lamps serve as my original inspiration for this room. It’s pretty easy to see how all the other furnishings fall right in line. I'm especially tickled to introduce a set of green leaf swivel chairs I’ve been dying to incorporate into one of my designs.

By covering this room with loads of black, the orange has simply no place to hide- it really pops!

You won’t be able to help yourself from noticing the orange lip art and a pair of not your average vases by Anissa Kermiche (love handles and breast friends)…very sexy & fun touches, in my opinion. Just perfect for a bedroom. I do believe the only thing missing is TARZAN…Aah-eeh-ah-eeh-aaaaaah-eeh-ah-eeh-aaaaah!

Although I have to admit I haven’t quite mastered this famous jungle call (nope, no Carol Burnett), I guarantee there’s lots of great content calling for you right now in Track number one!

Blushing Leopard

Yaaas, you’re not seeing things- This is the same room flaunting a whole different style, yet still a bold look for all of you who may prefer a more subtle, baby leopard approach.

First off, let’s talk about the art, shall we? These two set the tone for this room, without a doubt. However, just in case you’ll be requiring a bit more assistance with driving your message home, here’s a matching pillow.

This is your room and you are the boss of it all.

My fav picks for this blush bedroom are the set of matte rose gold lamps and the animal print wallpaper. I also chose an upholstered bed in oxblood, one of my all time favorite decorator colors. It’s the drama-mama of all colors! In this case, it’s a spectacular accent color, a great addition to this room’s color palette. Don’t you think?

There’s a whole lot more going on besides the gah-gah jungle love for neon and leopard print, though…trust me. Our over-the-top discussion about our mutual love for leopard decor and clothing is also well worth taking in. Not to mention, our fun trivia questions, just another new feature added to Season II of Deep Track Designs.

Finally, you’ll love hearing Grace supply you with some obscure factoids about David Bowie’s life and music.

Be prepared to learn something new! Rest assured, the we don’t say goodbye before touching on Bowie’s hit, “Rebel Rebel.” Make sure to listen all the way through this track to truly feel the deep connection this lady has with Bowie.
